Outline planning permission has been approved by the Planning Inspectorate for two 300 unit residential schemes with alternative access arrangements on land at New House Farm, Mickleover, Derbyshire.
Appletons produced a detailed Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment followed by Appeal documentation and Expert Witness at the Public Inquiry.
South Derbyshire District Council had refused the first application, involving a signalised junction access, on the grounds of highway safety. The Council also resolved to refuse a second application with an alternative roundabout access, for landscape impact reasons. At appeal the Council additionally objected to the signalised junction scheme on landscape grounds. The Inspector rejected the Council’s arguments and was clear in his decision that the signalised junction scheme would not harm highway safety and that neither proposal would materially harm the character and appearance of the area.
