The proposed 230 dwellings on land adjacent to Farndon Road, Market Harborough has gained outline planning permission at committee. Working closely with the architects BM3, Appletons produced supporting landscape planning documentation including a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment.
Ross Pritchard CMLI of BM3 Architecture states:
“The development creates a new peri-urban edge, the dwellings were orientated around open sided courtyards, this breaks the built form and when combined with planted screening blocks minimises views of the development from the wider countryside.
Being on the edge of the River Welland the site presented a number of landscape and ecological challenges. Mitigation proposals were produced which enhanced the diversity of the site whilst creating new green links and natural spaces. Sustainable drainage and swales were incorporated into the design to ensure that potential water on site was dealt with in a sensitive manner whilst contributing to the character of the site”.
