In September 2015 Liverpool City Council unanimously approved planning permission for 133 new homes and apartments on the site of the former Ogden’s Tobacco Factory in Everton, Liverpool.
The 8.5-acre plot is made up of 250,000 sq ft of vacant office and warehouse buildings. This includes the former office and clock tower which is grade two-listed and fronts Boundary Lane. The plans will see the conversion of the listed office into 19 apartments, and the demolition of all other buildings on the site to make way for 133 one to four bedroom homes.
The joint venture of Countryside and Liverpool Mutual Homes was supported through planning by Appletons, Brock Carmichael Architects and Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners. Appletons key roles were undertaking detailed Ecology surveys including Phase 1 Habitat Surveys and Bat Activity Surveys. We also carried out Tree Surveys and Aboricultural Impact Assessments along with Code for Sustainable Homes calculations.
