Appletons were commissioned to prepare a Landscape Visual Impact Assessment to accompany a planning application for residential development of 325 houses on 9.2Ha of land within open countryside on the edge of the settlement of Clitheroe. Working within a team of architects, planning consultant and other related disciplines, the scheme was taken to Appeal. Following the outcome of the Inspectors decision, a second application was lodged to take account of local concerns and high matters. The scheme has now received the benefit of planning permission and is currently a viable project within the housing market. Work over a 3 year period also included preparation of photomontages, detailed desk top and field research to present the development case in the context of landscape character and visual amenity impact.
